Yeast can also cause bad-smelling discharge, which women often variously describe as "sour-smelling," "yeasty," or even "putrid." Generally, yeast is a much less common cause of odor than BV. Sometimes, however, yeast occurs with BV, causing a mixed bacterial and yeast infection with odor.
