What are the causes of a yeast infection?

A yeast infection is caused by an organism called Candida, which is a type of yeast. Healthy women usually have this yeast in the vagina. Either an overgrowth or rapid growth of this yeast can cause a vaginal yeast infection. The symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection can include any or all of the following: Vaginal Itching, Vaginal Discharge, Vaginal Soreness/Burning/Irritation, Rash/Redness.

What can I do if I'm experiencing vaginal itching?

If you are experiencing vaginal itching, we recommend you talk with your doctor or healthcare professional about your symptoms to determine whether you have a yeast infection. If you've previously been diagnosed yeast infection, you can use Vagistat® 1, Vagistat® 3 or Vagistat® 7 to cure most vaginal yeast infections. For instant relief of external vulvar itching associated with a yeast infection, try Vagisil Anti-Itch cremes or wipes.

Why do women get repeated yeast infections?

Please see a Vagistat® instruction leaflet PDF.

Can I use a Vagistat® treatment during my menstrual period?

Please see a Vagistat® instruction leaflet PDF.

What is the difference between Vagistat® 1, Vagistat® 3 and Vagistat® 7?

Vagistat® gives you three options that treat most vaginal yeast infections using the same effective medicines as the leading brand, but at lower prices. Vagistat® 1 is the strongest formula and cures most yeast infections in a single dose. Vagistat® 3 & Vagistat® 7 are both efficacious and use the most popular medicine to treat yeast infection. They're just as effective, but full treatment is spread over more days. If you're pregnant, the CDC only recommends a 7 Dose treatment, but talk to your doctor. All Vagistat® treatments are FSA eligible.
